Bushnell Backtrack G2

The nüvi 500 combines the best of Garmin’s various GPS products into a single, easy to use device that’s equally at home on the road, trails, or water. Preloaded with topographic maps of the U.S., the nüvi 500 boasts water-proof hardware, a removable 8 hour battery, electronic compass, and it can be upgraded with additional maps, traffic, and MSN Direct. The intuitive touch screen display combined with the voice prompted, turn-by-turn directions make this Garmin very easy to use. The nüvi 500’s intuitive interface greets you with two simple questions: “Where to?” and “View Map.” Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with City Navigator® NT map data for the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico or one European region or country (click Versions tab to view all). It’s packed with millions of points of interest and features digital elevation maps that show you shaded terrain contours at higher zoom levels. With nüvi 500, you can upload custom points of interest (POIs) and navigate to geo-tagged photos. If you’re lost, use the “Where Am I” emergency locator to view your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations.

  1. How many times has that worked out for you James? I had a deer lease southwest of Boomhower, Texas for 17 years, and never had a map for it. Never knew where water crossed the place, what the elevations were, what landmarks or impoundments were located on adjoining property, how far away roads were or which way theyturned and twisted through the area, etc. Using the Garmin Nuvi I’ve had now for several years, I can’t tell what hundred block I’m in on the streets I patrol either, nor could I save and recall data with a map and compass. Hell they didn’t even have cell phone service near or at my deer lease ’til the last couple of years before I got disabled and quit hunting around ’98 or so. Sometimes tecnology is a welcomed thing.
